Have fun for a good cause this Saturday, Sep 26th at the Pay Gap Comedy & Music Festival and Marketplace! As always, every Rock What You Got event uses a portion of ticket sales to support local non-profit organizations. While this event is no different, we do have some awesome new partners and sponsors who are helping strengthen communities for women in Minnesota.
Meet our Sponsors:
Livea
First meet Livea, our primary stage sponsor! Livea does weight loss differently by using a proven, physician-recommended weight loss plan that’s customized to your specific needs. So, if you are looking to lose weight, Livea is here to make that doable by carefully considering your dietary restrictions, body composition, and health concerns.
Plus, you’ll get private consultations and one-on-one guidance from an expert team that truly gets to know you – enthusiastic weight loss professionals who are happy to offer counsel and encouragement along the way. It’s true, adopting a healthier lifestyle isn’t always an easy process, but it’s one of the most worthwhile acts of self-care you can make.
The best part is, two of our comedy & music headliners are enthusiastic spokespersons for Livea – Miss Shannan Paul and Kat Perkins!
“Even when things are crazy, it’s nice to have my Livea Consultant to help keep me calm.” -Miss Shannan Paul
“I can’t get enough, I’m completely obsessed!” -Kat Perkins
Right now, Livea is offering you 10 weeks completely FREE! Not sure yet? Come meet them this Saturday at the the Pay Gap Comedy & Music Festival where they will be handing out FREE water to attendees.
Valley Pastries
Next, meet our secondary stage sponsor, Valley Pastries! In 1987, Bernie and Judy Postuma started a little pastry shop called Valley Pastries in Golden Valley. Over the years it became the local spot for arguably some of the best donuts in in the state and their signature GIANT raised donut holes.
Do you have a comedy or music ticket? If you do, you’ll get a FREE taste of their famous Giant Donut Holes On-A-Stick when you enter the stage area!! (pictured below – photo by Katie Robison)
Today, Valley Pastries is owned by two longtime friends, Alex & Mike. They continue to serve a variety of fresh homestyle cookies based on old family recipes. Plus, new products and experiences for donut fans of all ages!
How your ticket does a lot of good:
A portion of the profits from this event will go to support the following organizations.
1. Help Fund Local Food Shelves
Finnegans Brew Co.
Our beer sponsor, FINNEGANS Brew Co., has a mission to turn beer into food. 100% of profits from FINNEGANS SBC (social benefit corporation) goes to feeding the hungry, by funding local produce for food shelves.
So come out and enjoy a cold can of FINNEGANS beer this Saturday and don’t forget to bring non-perishable food donations for the FINNEGANS community fund to help support local food shelves during this difficult time.
Also, the FINNEGANS Community Fund will be the recipient of the silent auction fundraiser!
2. Help support local artists and venues
NIVA #SAVEOURSTAGES
Rock What You Got is a proud member of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA). Their mission is to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent live music venues and promoters throughout the United States.
Entertainment hubs are critical to local economies and tax bases as employers, tourism destinations, and revenue generators for neighboring businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and retail. Independent venues exist in every state across the country; they were the first to be closed, they will be the last to open. The economic recovery process will extend past just reopening the front doors, requiring solutions unique to the industry.
The Pay Gap Comedy & Music Festival will employ 17 local performers in addition to stage technicians and managers who would otherwise be out of work.
3. Help Women Gain Political Power
Rock the vote
We’re using this event to support women in politics by partnering with Rock the Vote. This is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to building the political power of young people.
For 30 years, Rock the Vote has revolutionized the way we use pop culture, music, art, and technology to engage young people in politics and build our collective power.
Women Winning + Opal Cool
Meet our third sponsor, Opal Cool. They offer clinically tested cool therapy products that are uniquely designed to reduce hot flashes, night sweats and other symptoms of menopause. Additionally, they offer soothing relief to nursing moms and women with MS.
This Saturday, Opal Cool will be at the Pay Gap Comedy & Music Festival to support Women Winning! They will be selling their Opal Cool Gap Pals and donating 15% of every sale to Women Winning. Come meet them and stay cool (or dry) under their Opal Cool tents.
Women Winning is a nonprofit non-partisan organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing pro-choice women to all levels of public office in the United States.
Since 1982, Women Winning has been building a coalition of people of all backgrounds, gender identities, and political affiliations united in our mission to recruit, train, and elect pro-choice women to all levels of public office — from park board to President of the United States. We’ve endorsed and elected thousands of candidates, tripling the number of pro-choice women holding elected office in Minnesota.
4. Help Support Small Local Business
MPLS Chamber
Our FREE Festival Marketplace will host over 50 small local vendors this weekend. Thanks to our partner, the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce, we are able to provide our vendors (who have 10 employees or less) with a FREE 1-year membership to the MPLS Chamber ($530 value).
Since its founding in 1881, the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce has worked to create strong partnerships to unite and grow member businesses in the Twin Cities. The Chamber serves 1,500 businesses in the 11-county metro area and focuses on public policy, economic development, and member services.
5. Enjoy Summer Festival Fun for a Good Cause
Summer may officially be over, but there’s still time to enjoy a true outdoor summer festival (rain or shine). Especially if it’s fun for a good Cause! This Saturday, September 26th at the MN State Fair grounds – come for a safe, socially distanced, and outdoor event. See LIVE entertainment, eat from State Fair food trucks, Shop with small businesses, sip wine & FINNEGANS beer, and make the most of the warm weather!
